Meet the Staff
Steve Mathews - Founder, President and CFO of Paceline Products, Inc.
Registered Physical Therapist – BS University of Kansas – Physical Therapy
Married to Dr. Mitzi Mathews. Daughter Kara and son Curtis have both worked at Paceline Products, and Curtis is currently performing the bookkeeping duties. Steve is a lifelong bicycle rider, who like many, started cycling by riding his Schwinn Stingray in his neighborhood and to grade school. He started riding longer distances with friends in High School. During college his bicycle was his primary or only mode of transportation for many years. He began bicycle touring in Kansas, Arkansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Montana during and shortly after college. Steve participated in multiple competitive sports in high school, and crew in college. He participated in duathlons and triathlons in the early 80’s. He began USCF racing in the early 80’s and continued thru 1990. USCF racing allowed him to ride and race throughout the central US and he participated in USCF rider development and soigneur camps at the OTC in Colorado Springs. He developed Chamois Butt’r, with much input from racers and medical professional friends, during the late 80’s and early 90’s. He and Mike Scanga, owner of Bicycle X-Change in Wichita, KS incorporated Paceline Products in 1993 to market Chamois Butt’r. Professional racer Scott Moninger purchased a share of Paceline Products in 1997. In 2004 Steve purchased all the outstanding shares of Paceline Products, Inc. Steve continues to ride road, cyclocross and mountain bikes recreationally, and throws in a very infrequent race to remember how hard racing can be.
Judi Mac Donald - Warehouse Manager
BS –Criminal Justice, Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Michigan Judi started at Paceline Products in March 2001, after her husband accepted a position in Kansas City with The Ford Motor Company. Prior to starting at Paceline, Judi worked with troubled teens as a substance abuse counselor in the Detroit area. Judi has two children, a daughter in her fourth year at the University of Missouri and a son that is currently a senior in high school, who is also planning on attending teh University of Missouri in the fall of 2010. During Judi's years of service at Paceline Products she has performed just about every duty there is in a growing business, from checking tubes of Chamois Butt'r for defects to inventory control, accounts receivables, event sponsorship, and shipping and receiving to name a few. "It's been an awesome experience to be so involved with the success and growth of Paceline Products."
Curt Shelman - Operations Manager
BS HPER – Fort Hays State University
Started with Paceline Products as Operations Manager November 2005 after a 21 year career managing corporate fitness/recreation programs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Raytheon Aircraft, Pizza Hut Corporation and HCA Healthcare. Shelman achieved a successful Collegiate and post-Collegiate athletic career as a distance runner. He gathered All-American Honors 3 times in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track while at Fort Hays State University and continued to run competitively eventually capping his career as a team member of the 1992 National Association Team Champions at the USA T&F Cross Country Championships. He is now active as a competitive cyclist racing in local and regional Masters and Category 3 road/cyclocross races and, weather permitting, commutes 17 miles each way to and from work. Shelman is also a USA Cycling Official and Mechanic and was the Local Association President for USA Cycling for 3 terms in Kansas. Curt is married to Stacie and has a son Colin, who is in his third year of study at Wichita State University.
Molly Crahan - Administrative Assistant
Molly Crahan began her career as an Administrative Assistant with Paceline Products in September, 2009. Molly brought with her an extensive background of sales and PR experience, and she instantly was a good fit within the company. As a former highly competitive swimmer and coach, the world of bicycling presented Molly with a new and unknown realm. However, she quickly discovered that the two sports shared many similar aspects and qualities, making for a smooth transition from the swimming world into the cycling world.
Molly serves various roles in assisting co-workers with their daily tasks, and is continuously learning and developing critical skills essential to Paceline's business. Molly has further taken on an effective leadership role in the areas of event sponsorship and donations.
